About Pat Fule

With over three decades of service to Strathmore as a teacher, coach, Town Councillor, and now two-term Mayor, Pat Fule has dedicated his life to building a stronger, healthier, and more connected community. From championing new parks, pathways, and sports programs to pushing for improved healthcare access and economic development, his leadership has left a lasting mark on the town. As a life-long public servant, Pat Fule’s vision for Strathmore as a growing, inclusive, and medically supported community continues to drive his work.

A Vision for 2029 and Beyond

Caring for Seniors

Build a New Senior's Lodge in Strathmore

Continue to work with the Wheatland Housing Management Board for a new Seniors’ Lodge (with possible Hospice).  We need affordable housing for seniors, and a new lodge is needed for our growing population of seniors.

Planning for Growth

Maintain a High Quality of Life in Strathmore

Continue working to manage the upcoming growth of Strathmore to keep its quality of life high! We need to ensure that infrastructure, paved pathways, green spaces, trees and future school sites are always being considered.

Community Safety

Improve Fire Protection in Strathmore

Work toward setting aside funds and securing other funding sources so that we can be in a better position to have a new fire station. This will ensure that all of Strathmore’s subdivisions can have timely and efficient fire suppression response.

Recreation Facilities

Expand Access to Recreation

Like past collaborations with Golden Hills School Division (e.g. Strathmore High and Aquatic Centre/Civic Centre, George Freeman School and SMP Sportscentre), I will work towards a new single sheet ice arena at the new Westmount K-9 School.  (This will free up ice times at the twin arena).

Medical Services

Develop a Medical Hub in Strathmore

Continue to develop Strathmore as a medical hub for the region.  I have been working to attract more doctors here, and we are very close to having some join us!  Expand Diagnostics Imaging in Strathmore and work toward getting a CT Scanner here. I’ve mentioned this to Premier Smith and I’ve been on two hospital tours with MLAs to promote this initiative. I’d also like to find ways with Council to support long serving doctors’ clinics in adding and improving services, such as more radiology, a pain clinic and sleep clinic.

WHY PAT FULE?

I’ve lived in Strathmore for 41 years and I taught at Strathmore High for 34 years. For seven of those years I was also a Town Councillor, and for the  last eight years, I have proudly served as the Mayor.  I have developed solid relationships with different levels of government and municipalities, as well as other service groups.  Here’s what I “bring to the table”:

Knowledge

Having been on Council for 15 years, I understand the major issues facing our town, as well as how to achieve success in initiatives.  I was on the Building Committee for the SMP Sportscentre, a part of improving things for Siksika Nation residents here, was a part of the decision making for the Wildflower Water Reservoir, new Municipal Building, Farmers Market Pavilion, and I helped suggest and approve 15 paved pathways since 2010 and our 4 canal bridges.

Experience

I have been the Mayor of Strathmore for 8 years and I understand Council’s role in relation to Governance and working with a CAO.  I have chaired over 200 Council meetings. I have worked with many service club leaders as well and developed strong relationships with groups like the Legion, the Western Irrigation District, the Strathmore and District Agricultural Society, WHMB and the Hospice Society, the City of Chestermere, our MLA and the Province, and the villages of Rockyford, Standard and Hussar and the LIONS Club among many more.

Integrity

I believe in being a different kind of Mayor for Strathmore.  I am honest and communicate to residents as much possible.  I’m also responsive to residents’ questions, suggestions and concerns.  In my 15 years, I have never voted for a Council pay raise.  I also strongly adhere to the Council Code of Conduct. I do not approach any decision or vote with an ego, and I believe that I bring humility to the position. Many residents refer to me as “Mayor Pat” and I love that! I’d love to continue to work for Strathmore residents.
